How do LeafGuard Gutters Work?
The Science Behind Liquid Adhesion
LeafGuard works on a scientific principle known as liquid adhesion. Put simply, liquids, like water, cling to the surfaces they travel across, especially if that surface is curved or round. This is what makes the LeafGuard system work. Rainwater travels along the curved hood into the gutter. Leaves, pine needles and other debris are solid and do not cling to the surfaces they travel across, so they roll right off the gutter system, keeping your gutters free of debris and clogs.
Exclusive Seamless Gutter Design
The gutter is roll-formed from one continuous piece of aluminum. We bring our factory on wheels to your home to form the LeafGuard gutter system on site. We cut it to custom lengths that fit your home. The single sheet of flat metal is formed into an extra wide gutter with a perfectly arched cover by our on-site machines with supervision of our factory trained employees. The cover is not an add-on, but part of the gutter itself. This is what makes the LeafGuard of Lexington‘s gutters unique. Also, the aluminum we use is 20% thicker than the industry standard for gutters. Plus with our ScratchGuard paint finish, you don’t have to worry about the look of your gutter, they won’t crack, chip or peel. Our ScratchGuard finish comes with a warranty for the life of your gutter.
Unique Downspouts and Internal Hangers
In addition to LeafGuard’s large gutter bottom, it is also installed with extra large, 3” by 4” downspouts. These downspouts can handle even the heaviest rain falls, up to 32 inches of rain per hour. That’s over three times the record rainfall ever recorded by the US Weather Bureau. We use our specially designed, non-corrosive internal hangers that both support the hood and attach your gutters to your fascia board through the back of your gutters. We also use screws, not nails to attach the gutter system, which makes our gutters more stable. Nails can cause water to seep through the nail hole, so your gutters can pull away or fall off of your home but not LeafGuard. Plus, our hangers are installed every two feet, which more than twice the industry standard, so you don’t have to worry about your gutters coming down. This unique combination of features makes LeafGuard the best one-piece gutter system on the market to handle the weather in Lexington, Keene, Colby, Clintonville, and throughout Kentucky.
